I pulled my batch of mixed from the tumbler today to check it as it had neem running 4 days non stop with 120/220 grit, 2nd time, and noticed this stone with what appears to be stripes of gold in it... let me know what you think... Attachments:

Hard to say. Gold is sometimes associated with quartz. But could just be iron stains...

If gold it would feel really heavy for it's size.

;DNo That's not gold...where did you get that rock? I got it in North Carolina. the color is too gold looking for iron staining in my opinion.. the real problem with these pics is the pics themselves are crap... I am using the camera on my laptop. When I first washed it off after removing from the tumbler the gold color really stands out, I thought maybe pyrite, but after comparing it a piece of pyrite I feel the color is too true to gold to be pyrite. the lines are small as is the rock so it would not necessarily affect weight very much... once again, I need a better camera to post proper pics... gonna do some shopping today & see whats out there in cameras on sale. But I thank you all for your opinions & responses!!! 1 of the main reasons I do like being a member here.

Take a tip of a knife and press into the gold part if the knife tip dents the material, like a soft malleable metal, it may very well be GOLD!
or send it to me and I'll assay it o yeah Ed

I sent it and the rest to the 500 room for a week or so to see how it goes... I'm letting play with the plastic pellets cause the ceramic makes me nervous after the 120/220 grit. and my batch of Lab is still in 500 for the last 4 days and will probably stay there until my order of 1000AO arrives from the shed!!

as much as I hate to admit it I am thinking rutilated also.. the lines are not ezposed and I don't want to damage the rock by trying to get at it either.
going to have to wait until the tumble is done to have another look see at it.
