I have a bunch of some inexpensive opal, i thought I'd try cabbing a piece on the genie. I think it may be from Brazil but i have no way of knowing, the seller couldn't remember. ![](http://daharsh.net/s/IMG_20120927_213029.jpg) ![](http://daharsh.net/s/IMG_20120927_213131.jpg)

Nice piece John and you have the right idea start with inexpensive opal, it's pretty soft and when you get to work with fire you wont leave it all in the pan.

Beautiful, looks like the alergy medicine I take. I laughed out loud! pporky, yes that was my thought. It dissolves on the hard wheels which made it easy to get the general shape, but all the doming really happened once i got to 260 on the Nova and could slow down.

no flash, this stuff is just sort of creamy. It has a pretty blue to it and some bits of green and yellow.
