I recieved a peice of Blue G material from Kris and Al a while ago and after I saw it I ordered some more just because I liked the way it felt and looked and they sent me a few nice slabs. I finally got round to trying it out for real and would reccomend everyone get some and have fun working one of the nicest, easiest to work materials you will find. Don't get me wrong; it is not a soft material but you will be pleased with the results of your time spent. It definately acts like a slightly softer version of jadeite; I'm used to the guatemalan hope you try some Lloyd. Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/thumbnailer/Qt42N8DXx5SVbc0k7EjJ.jpg)

Thanks for looking everyone. Ed, I made sure I put in the extra effort just to try and satisfy the master. It wasn't planned and just popped into my head as a project late in the afternoon, as I was determined I was going to try the "Blue G" material.

Thanks BEJ. Pat, i started with 100g flat lap for beginning shaping then progressively higher in 5 inch flexi pads like Jim at Wyrocks uses so I could get into the shapes. The final I use on the jadeite type materials is the 3000 diamond andI could buff it too but it looked pretty good even at 1500. I have a variable speed rig with a water drip that goes from 0 to 5000rpm so that helps too.

I have a couple of pounds that the boys at H2M were nice enough to slab up for me and its all solid; no waste from pits or voids and it doesn't seem to have any fractures in the peices I have that are weak. Like they say though, give it the drop test first. You won't find a nicer working material and the colour of blue; robins egg, is sweet.

That's a hearty heart indeed, Lloyd! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) We love our Blue G, and we're sending some off to the GIA today ... FINALLY! It's past time to get the identification pinned down, though we're pretty convinced that its closely related to jadeite. However, the presence of both amphibole & pyroxine micro-crystals in its makeup point toward something truly unique. We'll be posting some auctions here later today. Thanks again, Lloyd! Kris & Al

Eager to hear the GIA results. No matter the results, I like it and it is a pleasure to work with. Good shine, too.
