I used the Scotch outdoor mounting tape and golf tees on 7 cabs. One of them was a repolish so I didn't photograph. One lost the tape and one got knocked off. A couple more were about to come off just as I finished. My cabbing was improved using a dop. Coming off the polishing pads the stones were heated enough so the tape did not put up much of a fight. All but the Gary Green came from my unfinished box. Mystery, Pietersite, plume, mystery, morrisonite, gary green.

Fine polished stones ! 22d nails the I.D i'd say
I tell all newbies to get into the dop habit early although excellent results can be done by hand nothing like the control of a dopped stone

I love the colors - someday I may try cabbing. I've been tumbling for about 6 months now but have not been brave enough to try anything else!

Those all look great! Love the golf T idea. Dopping has helped me incredibly on some stones. Others I've just gotta do by hand. That Morrisonite is killer!

Nice bunch of cabs. I'd not think the golf tee would have enough surface to surface contact to hold very well. With the plastic dop heads I use, I always make sure I have at least half the stone contacted by the plastic head and tape and they come in a variety of sizes which makes this easy. I assume the golf tees are plastic as I expect wood would not stick to the tape well at all...Mel

We got the tape and had mixed results on wooden dowels but worth the effort, today was better I had Tony clean the backs of the stones with alcohol, usually now if I lost them it was on the last wheel!
And as for your cabs, all are gorgeous!!!! Love the Morrisonite and Gary Green is a fav of mine! I always think dopping is better although funny that I complain, today seemed easier with the ones that were undopped!

The golf tee was wood. The problem was the tape coming off the stone not the tee. When I went to the 600 and 1200, I foolishly dumped the cabs in a bucket of water. I have some wooden pegs coming in the mail that have larger heads.
The Morrisonite is less than 3/8 " thick and 1 1/2 by 3/4 ". I did a buff top and there is now way for me to cut something that size without getting my fingers.

Nice cabs! Mel all I use is wood not painted golf tees and 5 min epoxy and have never had one come off. When you are finished just put under the hot water in the sink for a few sec. and take a knife blade and it will come right off. Keith
