Just finished perusing the rest of my buy, only 101 degrees or so out there. Funny the heat wasn't bothering me for some reason

So this was the remainder of an old timer's stash. He passed away at 96 a few years ago, and his son sold off the machines and the rough and decided it was time to sell off the rest. He said his dad did this for nearly 60 years.

Here's the last 5 crates

pulled out a few random for another shot

neat jade

there's quite a bit jade in this collection. The guy said he used to go with his dad to Big Sur when he was young (in the 60's) after storms and pick it up on the beaches.

Next bin has all the slabs in numbered bags

Wow! I can only imagine your excitement opening each container. It all looks like high quality material. I bet you will still be going through that for months to come. I must be honest....I'm just a wee bit jealous. I'm still in awe!

Good golly miss Molly Beef, what an awesome score! Nothing like getting into a pile of old stock material and it looks like that fellow collected top end slabs too. See he hit Malibu at least once as that's a dandy slab of Pt. Mugu Shell Rock ( coquina) you've pictured and I flat cannot believe that bright red slab that looks to be some kind of palm I've never seen. Fantastic looking dopping system and preforms too. Now you've only got to keep cutting cabs at a rate of about 50 a day to use up all that material by agate 100 *L*.....Mel

Cool dopping system the old timer had there. Man those are some nice slabs! Real quality stuff and with all those performs half the work is done for you. Congrats. Ya know good rocks come to good people. It's really nice when rock collections go to people who will keep them going.
