Howdy folks, Just to catch you up on the big buck that was tangled in horse fencing, we've been gunning for him with the dart gun for several days but he either has not shown up or has stayed too far away. But, this evening he came in for food and glory be, he has broken the wire around his neck and throat and not only a long strand is hanging form his antlers. He's still at risk because he could catch the wired while jumping a fence and hurt himself but hopefully, he'll step on the wire first and break or shake it loose. We'll have to think about whether or not we want to risk darting him now. Would rather he solve the problem himself as darting is not without some risk to the animal too. Here are a couple of pics that show his neck is now free of the wire....Mel

Glad to know that the wire is not around his neck any longer. Could you tell if he has any wounds from the wire being around his neck, Mel? Sure hope it comes off his antlers. LOL, Lloyd, is he in your front yard? Spotted one across the street from our house several weeks ago. Here he is looking as if he has chewing tobacco in his cheek, lol.

ginger: All he has is a bit of of a groove in his fur and skin. He seems to be feeding well now and the last bit of tape is still on his horns but it does not look like it will do any harm and will probably get rubbed off soon.....Mel
