I too buy a lot from Brian/rockman69. Over the years we have gotten fairly cordial. I prefer to visit him in Castle Rock, CO, or catch him at a show, but I have bought from him on ebay for years.
I agree the material is generally good, with some exceptional bits. Brian carries a range of quality, any you will find some rocks that don't get bids, or get relisted with $1.69 start values (used to be $0.69).
I have occasionally bought a rock that was unfortunate - generally because of fractures or had a course grain that did not polish. But often these were ones I had bought on the cheap and was taking a risk. If the rock is priced low there is generally a reason.
When I have laid out $5 to $10 a lb for a 5, 10, or 15lb rock I have never been disappointed.
He generally provides only two pics, while some vendors supply 6 or more. But overall he is a nice guy and the rock is good to really good, and correspondence and shipments are all carried out professionally.
Some years back Sands had a problem with Noreena that fractured on the saw. I understand he accepted the return and things got settled. I think the current batched of Noreena are more solid. What he had at the Minnesota show was pretty solid.

Yes Scott, he currently has some nice Sonora. It is from early digs, and Brian says it is better stuff. Consequently he never puts it on reduction. I sent you pics of some of these pieces form the Minneapolis show, but don't remember this one being there. I have not yet cut my little piece I got at the show, but hope to cut it this winter:

We could split some too. I'm surprised people on here don't do that more. I mean, who of us (well, the hobbyists anyway) can use like 14 pounds of Noreena?

Wish I had the money. We could split some too. I'm surprised people on here don't do that more. I mean, who of us (well, the hobbyists anyway) can use like 14 pounds of Noreena? Me! A 14# piece, depending upon dimensions, will make a 4-5" sphere, then I have a bunch of cutoffs that can be tumbled or whatever. This 10# piece is blockier and might could make a 5", depends on the one dimension not visible.

Oh, yeah, you're right! Spheres. Wow, I just checked google images for Noreena Sphere, and they look sooo cool and different from what sees on the flat plane. Go for it Scott!

I've bought from him a couple times too. Great stuff.
@ bluesky - I generally try to get 20 lbs. of a given material (not necessarily from the same source)). But then I only tumble, and somtimes you need that much to get a decent stone or three of a certain type...

Don, it's hard to say which is worse . . . regretting a too hasty purchase, or regretting letting something get away.
Yeah, for tumbling you need more poundage than cabbing.

No problem. I already have more rocks than I'll ever use. Just like to try a new material from time to time. Anyway, after slabbing the material, most of it is given away or traded.
