Just noticed that there isn't a thread for folks to show off their shop. Maybe it's because everyone is as messy as me... Any way, here's my tumbling station. Thumler's 12 pound, Lortone 3-1.5 and a Lortone 3A, a single and double Lot-O. Here is my rough rock waiting for cutting or smashing or stabilizing. And here is slabs, solid geodes/t-eggs, and stuff in the process of tumbling.

As bad as my addiction is, it's heartening to see that it can be a lot worse!! Wow, you all have a lot invested in machines, rocks and other supplies. Thanks for sharing your workspaces. Jean

Geoff, you asked for it! I just tumble and slab. Here is some of my setup. This is my main tumbler setup.3 Lortone 12lbers,2 Lortone 45c's,and 2 Lot-os. I keep my MJR 35lber in the shed due to noise. These are in my utility room in the house where I can keep an eye on them. The white index card cabinets are where I keep my slabs, the others hold my grits and spare parts My slab cabinet. A corner of my shed that I started my collection in a few years ago. My HP saws,16 and 18. I use any available shelving I can find, chip racks, anything. Every rock I ever slabbed,I've kept a piece of. Obsidian stash Palmwood stash When it dont fit inside anymore, just toss it in front of the shed.About 15 more 5 gal buckets to go through and I'll be set and have enough rocks.Yeah, right!! A display cabinet for my tumbled palmwood, with a few blue lace. Thanks for looking. snuffy

Goeff, how do you feed three Lot-Os with just those tumblers? I have a Lortone 33B to feed one Lot-O and the Lot-O sits idle most of the time.

Holy crap. I have a way to go! Those are some awesome setups and great ammunition next time the wife asks if I have enough rocks! Goeff, how do you feed three Lot-Os with just those tumblers? I have a Lortone 33B to feed one Lot-O and the Lot-O sits idle most of the time. I use the 12 pounder to smooth out hammer broken rocks and anything else that would take more than a month in 60/90. It only runs 46/70. The rest of the rotaries are for whatever. Either small batches of one type of rock, or just some miscellaneous that needs a little more love before moving on to the Lot-Os. The Lot-Os are fed a steady diet of pre-smoothed rocks from the rotaries, river rock, slabs, preforms and softer material that doesn't need a rough grind, like sun stones. The secret to my success is my job. I work in Prudhoe Bay so I'm up there two weeks, then home two weeks. The rotaries never stop, but when I'm away I have to leave the vibes empty so there is always time for me to catch up. I'm actually behind right now. I'm heading to work tomorrow and still have 8 pounds that just finished 400 grit and 5 pounds waiting on 220. Add another 10 pounds or so that will finish in the rotaries while I'm gone and you can see where three Lot-Os comes in handy! This is how I keep track of all of them, since I rarely start them all at the same time. You can also see how I store my grit. Each one holds about 2 pounds of grit. I fill them with 5 pound boxes from Kingsley North on the shelf under the rotary tumblers. L-R is 46/70, 60/90, 220, 400, 600, Borax, AlO prepolish, AlO, SnO. I keep CrO in a smaller bottle since I only buy 4 ounces at a time.

Yesh. I only pick up some of the rock when I have a house guest once or twice a year. Otherwise I am a rock slob. Thinks just look better with rock piled on them.

Similar to when I was a bachelor lizard breeder. Things look better with a lizard cage on them! Except the fridge (too high to service) and the toilet (too yucky). So cool.

Man, some of you folks have the cleanest , neatest, most organized shops! Here's my rat nest. *L* I have like 1200 square feet in the shop and I actually cleaned up before I took these pics so it would not look too disgusting....Mel My rotaries. Used to have seven and I chucked out all the 33B's and one QT 12 as the freaking things just pissed me off. My MJR has been going 24/7 for years with hardly a break. Good rig! Storage for some of my small rarer hunks of rough on the outside wall of my cabbing area. Shelf on the right I just added a few days ago. Vibe tumbling area. Am down to just the UV-10 now and love it! Entrance to my walled off work are where I cab etc. Shop had a 300 square foot apartment it it with all appliances and bathroom etc. Cleaned it out for a shop area. Inside shot. Kitchen sinks set up towards the back comes in handy so's I don't get in trouble for dragging my rock dirt into the main house *L*. Slab storage shelves: My piece of cr*p ancient Genie. Note the wonderfully bowed base. Brilliant to not have a waterproof base on a machine that is always drenched in water *L* Preforms are stored in the drawer set in back of the Genie. Big tool box I use for storing my type specimens I used for ID purposes. I used to have big museum display showcases for my rocks but did not move them to Texas as the house here has lots of windows and few walls.

less "showing off" versus "true confessions" well... haven't tidied up the tumbling area in a while, but this is the garage. Left is a large black Stanley box full of rough and slabs. Slabs on the bottom of the cart as well. Rough in buckets on the right. Combo machine is just for trim saw now. Left side is my mega tumbler sitting unused (on top of rock box) - behind the trim saw is the slab saw and more rocks, Back wall is more rock storage and tumblers. basement jewelry and cabbing: rest of the house is relatively rock-free although there are piles around the yard and a couple more in the garage.
