Dies anyone have any recommendations for beaches and can't-miss areas along the Oregon coast? I got a rock buddy going up there. He's looking for beach agates and any general houndin spots for a vacation. Steve We have had a great deal of success at three places. First, the beach at Bullard Beach SP just outside of Bandon, second, the beach at Muriel Ponser Wayside Area just north of Florence and finally, our favorite at an unnamed picnic area (could be called Ocean Beach or something like that) about a mile or more north of Muriel Ponser. The entrance kinda comes up quickly on you and, while driving to the north, it takes a hard left turn back to the south. At this particular area we used to find huge whole sand dollars but in the past couple years they have been mostly pieces. As with all beaches that are subject to tidal flows, your favorite spot can be under sand the next day. We "mined" one place for over a week, having great success, came back the next week and it was under several feet of sand! Found another place several hundred yards away and it too went away in a few days. The beach near Bandon is probably the most consistent for us.
