Thanks all; the river provides such a variety but I finally honed in on the main; so far, rock, that is the one that looks like vistaite; nope that's not it. There is enough pcs. of the others; and they're all mohs 6+, that it is really interesting picking. Not too many weeks left though till the water gets hard and the fluffy white stuff puts an end to picking till next year when the water goes down again; hope I can remember:<)

really nice material.... I may have to take a road trip up to Georgia and do a little river walking myself... be awhile before it get too cold for me ... used to cold water.

Thanks It's not how cold the water gets; it's how hard it gets when it freezes solid ;D, course the only ice you see probably comes out of the fridge

I cut another slab off the camo rock and guess what showed up? A pink ear, which completes the look of this unique and bizarre stone. I originally thought it was a chert but I am leaning towards jade now, the more I cut the more bizarre the peice gets. Attachments:

another chert; nice and solid; the stone is actually this colour ; had to adjust with it in hand, the fill is a reddish brown and all the fractures are filled and solid. Every peice of chert I cut from here is a pleasant surprise. Attachments:
