In my constant battle with big business I have recently lost out to two of my rivals - 1) Amazon, 2) Ebay - (and a couple of others). My site www.carcamwarehouse.com has been hit by a very nasty update which has given big business a large boost and sunk me. I need some facebook likes or something - by something I mean shares, mentions on tumblr, twitter etc. Whatever anyone is a member of which is shown on the site. If anyone is feeling very generous I would really really really really appreciate some facebook (or something other) shares. I ***think*** (80% sure) that any facebook shares etc may help me get my positions back from the big boys - it may not - I do not know for certain, but I would like to try. If you can help my site out (and thus me by virtue of that) please spare 30 seconds or so to visit www.carcamwarehouse.com and hit the facebook like button (or one of the others) if you can. I will let you know the outcome. If anyone is interested in this SEO for their own site - of course I will reciprocate. Cheers Mark

Done.
Those cameras - do they only record the trip or can they also help the driver somehow (night vision or such)?

Baz - THANKYOU. Im not sure of anything else which can be done TBH - I read a metrics report today that "says" FB likes/shares are the heaviest weight towards positioning - it could be right or wrong but I wont know unless I try which is where my uncertainty comes into play.
Adrian - THANKYOU - The cams only record the journey - its for insurance purposes - some insurers over here are giving 15% off if the driver has a car cam installed.
BushmanBilly - THANKYOU.
I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS GUYS. Mark

Reason I ask is... have you hit up every single trucking and transportation company in the UK so far for 'group' installations into their vehicles? Not sure how it works in the UK, but did a fast google for you here, and THIS is what I found: www.windshieldcam.com/Your basic cameras price at under $100... for ONLY $1,400, you can have that nice simple system in the link above. Consider delivery trucks, ambulance companies, security companies (Brinks armored cars), construction companies, rental companies, ANY company that maintains a fleet of vehicles that the employees do not own are potential clients. My suggestion... hire a salesperson to do outside account-based sales. LOW LOW LOW base salary (lowest you can get away with paying) plus commission (this is motivation). Have them go after every single fleet company in the UK. Then, hire a rep in France, Germany and wherever... by then, you should have volume scale discounts from the manufacturer and you can cut out the distributor. Competition: undercut them pricewise. If you can't, your costs are too high, so find the manufacturer and order direct. Offer better service and replacement guarantees. Ensure your sales staff actually follows up every call/lead/sale. When you are rich, I want one please:).

FossilMan - THANKYOU!!!! KrazyDiamond - THANKYOU!!!! BikerRandy - THANKYOU!!!! Helen - THANKYOU!!!! NatureNut - THANKYOU!!!! Rockoonz - THANKYOU!!!! The Dad_Ohs - THANKYOU!!!! Thanks very much all - The Dad - I could do with some good luck!!!! Just a smidgin would be cool!!! KrazyDiamond - So do I - its hard online with the big players like ebay and amazon around getting all the attention. I imagine its always been that way offline or online in reality. Helen - I am in a position really to be both Distributor and Retailer - the website is the retail part - I am currently looking for sales people to also offer deals to highstreet outlets (shops, garages - the list is endless) - but it is early days on that front I am investing in searching out the right salespeople. I will let you know. When I am rich (falls off chair laughing - i wish) I will send a cam to everyone on here who shared "facebooked" my site

RE: Helen's advice to hire commissioned sales.
I agree except for the format of payment. Pay ONLY for sales gained. They should be independent sales reps gaining commissions for deals they close and you deliver.

Shotgunner - the google update is called Penguin 3.0 to the best of my knowledge. It has taken large brands such as ebay and amazon plus a very large UK brand and pushed my small brand down. There are another two brands aswell - larger than mine by a long way - but not as large as the top 3 I mentioned - both of these got a boost. My hope is to strengthen my site with some facebook likes. It is a VERY long shot. There is nothing voluntary about a google update - its just the way it is.
Yes - I would only pay commission for sales gained. I am waiting on a representative to contact me regarding the introduction of agents. I really need the offline route aswell as the failing online one.

Well, you hire how you'd like, but with commission only, the agent has no skin in the game. If they rep other lines, the best commission is the one they will focus their time on pursuing.
The reason you pay base plus is because you can make them come to the office every day and show you their calling lists. An independent agent can learn your business, then turn around and work for your competitor tomorrow if they were offered 1% more commission or salary plus. If you don't pay them, you can't control/see how they are making sales. You hire a mercenary, you get a mercenary.
If you don't pay a base, at least pay a draw (against future commissions). Do you think the salesperson doesn't eat for a month til the commission checks come in? He's going to out of pocket his gas?
The only pro who'd agree to that reps multiple lines... and again... yours would be the last on the list and maybe only worked when he's got free time. In the long term, that could cost you more in lost sales than you could make in salary savings.
