I was given 3 real vintage not cultured 6-7 mm saltwater pearls to wrap and put online.. My best friend bought the strand 38 years ago and paid A Lot for them.. The strand got broke, she re strung it and added garnets to it ,so she had a couple left over..
So the question is does any know what a real pearl is worth.. I want to make a 14kt yellow gold wire ( Not filled )wrapped ring with one..

I would suggest taking them to an appraiser that deals in older estate jewelry, to find there worth as it and as a pendant, ring, whatever you are going to make with them.. he should also be able to tell you/give you an idea of what kind of setting may be better to showcase an older pearl.

Wonder how they know it isn't cultured?

They can measure the nacre coating... cultured pearls can get rubbed off to the plastic seed. I'm not sure exactly HOW they would measure it but if you could look inside the hole somehow, you'd be able to tell.
What's it worth? I agree that an appraiser is the best person to ask:).
When you find out tho, please let us know, I'm super curious about that too!!
