Just a quick one for you water saw owners:
We were cleaning out the kitchen clutter a few weeks ago, and my sweety, Laura, handed me a teensy bottle of blue liquid.
"Can you use this?", she asked.
Reading the label, the little light bulb went on, full brightness!
It was Cascade Rinse Aid™, a sheeting and water shedding agent!
We tried it out in our 10" tile saws, and it not only saves the blades, it also cuts water spray in half!
the retail at your local grocery store should be under $10 for a 16 oz bottle, which should last for, oh ...
A YEAR! ;D
No kidding, just a few drops per gallon of water will do the trick!
No, it won't help with rusting, but if you don't mind having a clean saw tank all the time, it's proven to be a great saw blade saver.
Later!
Kris

great idea! I have been using borax powder in the water to do the very same thing and it does help retard rust
I never leave my tank full of water, always empty and dry it when done, spray the arbor and blade with WD40
I have a Raytech and love the hinged top so I leave it up

I do the same as FrogandBear except I use dawn. The WD is a must to keep stuff from rusting.

I've been using Gem Lube from Kingsley North on my 10" Covington slab/trim saw. Mix it 10 parts water to 1 part Gem Lube. Awesome product. Protects from rust, blades wear great and actually lubes, not like some of your other water soluble products. Biodegradable, just dump the saw waste behind the house and rinse out with the garden hose. I let the blade sit in the Gem Lube w/water for weeks on end. Doesn't rust. I apply marine grease on the moving & threaded parts.

A couple of drops of the rinse aid in the tumbler can also be useful.
