At one point the wing was about five feet over my head. What was really cool is that they a half hour getting around one tree.

When you see them in person you are amazed at how big they are. I got to tour a mockup before they were built and it was hard to believe that they could blast something that big up into space. You were very lucky to get to see one up close. Thanks for sharing. Jim

The Endeavour "parade" has been great for So Cal. People all along the streets cheering the big bird. For me seeing all the people from kids to grandparents with big old smiles as it passed by, amazing! Where I work sits in the middle of the Aerospace capital of the world, El Segundo. So much flight history in the Inglewood, Hawthorne, Westchester and South Bay area.

I just got some intel from a friend who knows somebody at the Science Center. In the temporary exhibit, it sits on its cart like it is in Bill's picture. But he said when they get it into it's permanent display, it's going to sit upright, on a fake orange "main fuel tank", like it was about to blast off. At least that's the official current plan. I'm not sure if I like that idea or not -- I think of it more like an airplane, which should be horizontal!

I also heard about it being upright. The good thing about it is that the storage bay will be open so we can peek inside.

Truly amazing! I missed a flyover on the back of a 747 in Oakland, CA. We were there right when it was going to do some circles around the SF bay area. Somehow we missed it, so thanks for posting.
DadOhs, it belongs in SPACE!
