I got this from the same lady selling her husband's rock collection. It was the biggest thing in the boxes, but curious if it is any good. All locally collected in the Mojave Desert. Thin green rind, Blue agate with faint white fortification lines (hard to see in the pic sorry). Is it good? Should I cab it? Sell it? Doesn't seem like it would make very exciting cabs. I could keep it for intarsia I guess, but it's huge.

I don't know if it's anything good or not, but I love it!

I wonder if it would cook good with sugar-acid .. or be good for growing dendrites

Think you could polish one side and get a stand for it? Looks like it would make a great display piece. Paul

I'm with Paul, I'd polish one side and put it on display. It may not make really good cabs but it can be a great display piece.

I know this is an old thread ut just to confirm if anyone is still interested, yes it is agate... there is a lot of that type coming in from overseas, Uruguay, they had tons, literally, of it for sale. If I can remember the name of the company or locale I'll post it. and some of the biggest Amethyst Geode nodules I ever saw. Check this out... www.facebook.com/stones.agateamethystnow that's a lot of Amethyst!!

Wow, what a coincidence, I just brought this rock to work today to use as a paperweight! And that amethyst pic -- holy shamoly batman! I was reading posts in another forum and went to the owners Facebook page which led me to the link I posted, and as I was looking at the agates I was thinking, "wow, that must look really cool in the light, polished", then I came back here and found your thread... tis fate, tis Kismet... tis very cool coincidence!!! If you get a chance go back to the link and browse thru the album for more pics of some truly awesome Amethyst specimens!!
