I have seen posts from members that use a tennis ball on top of the lot o bowl for some small pieces. I thought that you shouldnt run the lot o without a full bowl. Messes up the springs? Do you fill the bowl with something as well (ie ceramics) or do you run it empty, I have a few pieces I would like to run. Thanks Bill

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would think you'd just wait until you had a load to go in the regular barrel and do your tennis ball at the same time.

I use the tennis ball as a lid while a regular batch is running. It's a good idea to shave the tennis ball or your slurry will turn in to a cement blob on the bottom of the ball.

ALWAYS RUN IT FULL!!!!!!!
You'll chip your rocks and mess up the mechanics! DEFINITELY fill with ceramics! When I did my fist size rock that you probably saw.... I ran it alone with a full barrel of ceramics, it turned out perfect! All loads need to be filled all the way to the rim. If you run it at less than capacity then you are asking for trouble for your rocks and your expensive machine.... it's too aggressive even though it appears to gently roll!!! It makes results very fast but underloaded will screw up everything....

I'm with Krystee on the full part.I fill mine up,then let it run and add rocks until its completely full and wont hold anymore without impeding the movement.Thats why I tape the lids down, they would be pushed off otherwise.
