Been a challenging year for me so far, so it's been a while, but I finally pulled the cabber out and worked on these eleven plus one for the KCC for an even dozen. Gooooood therapy. Lace Agate. The sign said Zebra Lace when I bought it in Quartzsite, but I have my doubts, especially with the Rhyolite banding. It's a shame the crack decided to show up. I could recut and recab. An unknown jasper I picked out of the miscellaneous Jasper/Agate pile at T Rocks in Quartzsite (Q). I wondered if it was Tahoma, but it seems too colorful. It was a little pitty, but Super Glue took care of it. What looks like pits in the pic are all filled. This is a self collected purple Garnet in Schist with Quartz and a little Epidote. A Rhodonite from Australia that I picked up in Q. A Sodalite I got from Randy. I swear, Randy got some high grade stuff. This has a cool chatoyancy to it. Can't remember where I picked this up but I wanna call it Sodalite, but it looks a little lacey. Very pretty stone. Shattuckite (from Jamie) Chrysoprase (from Q) Marra Mamba (from Q) The prettiest Aventurine I ever saw from India. (found in Q) Lastly, a BO with some fire. I could have worked a bit more to uncover more in the upper left quadrant, but I chickened out. May keep it dopped until a day when I'm feeling very brave. What do you think? Should I risk it, or leave it be? Thanks for looking. Jo

Lots of good stuff there but the BO is my favorite. Good luck if you keep grinding on it.

Beautiful - wide range of colors in those, Jo! I'm kind of partial to the self-collected garnet in schist, but I really like the colors in all of them. As far as the BO goes, I think it looks great as-is. Good to see you post some cabs again.

Jo, I'd leave it...unless you have that really weird feeling in your gut and then I'd say leave it dopped and let it set a while. All are great cabs but I'm thinking if I had to pick a favorite it would be that garnet mix. Very neat stone and you should take your therapy more often! :-)

Really nice. I'd leave the BO alone, that one is pretty.

I like all your cabs Jo and i can leave the b/o to you as you have it to see real well, I have a piece that i have been chasing but I,ve put it down for now and maybe follow it with the dremel. This is what I saw a lot of on the fields.

Thanks everyone. I might break out the dremel as Bill suggested and attack that BO. Something I forgot to mention on that one, I found it in the desert dust, in Quartzsite, at Desert Gardens, after the vendors left. It had many problems, hence being on the ground. With a few deep pits, and no decent back, I gave it an epoxy backing and filled the pits with epoxy and gold filled wire in two places. Here's a pic that shows the gold fill-ins better: Oh Ed, I hope we can make it west this winter, but alas something big is happening this spring and that's not mild it's the birth of our first grand-child so we have to be close to the upper east coast but if the winds do blow us toward the southwest you can bet we'll be knocking and rocking. I too, need to add my like for the sodalite/blue lace cab... very very nice !!! The BO......I think if you grind the top section it will be the same under , although it may get smaller and allow more fire to show... but then I've never cabbed before, so what the heck do I know!!!!
