The almost one stop place to go to get heavy duty motors, pillar blocks,v-belts and their pulleys. They have solid shafts but but often w/key ways cut.The tumbler in the photo was a Cadillac and cost less than $200 less barrels and junk steel base..It easily handles(and has) a 200 pound barrel! It is running two 15 pound barrels in the photo. The smaller tumbler built on wood handles two 12 pound barrels and cost less than $150 and was too easy on the wood base.

Close up of super heavy duty. Also all from Surplus Center. The shafts are solid 1 and 1/2 inch steel and 36 inches long.Motor was over sized for turning other much larger tumbling barrels at 1/2 horse power. It is an expensive TEFC (totally enclosed) motor for $79.99.Way over kill.It runs at coarse grind speed of 80 RPM on 6 inch barrels fo almost 2 years.

James, on the heavy duty - did you make the barrels from PVC pipe?

Yes John From Lowes! Those are bulletproof but loud. Make sure you use schedule 40 pipe.... A cap on one side and a 4"-6" bushing and coupling on other side. DO NOT USE THIN WALL PIPE LIKE SOLD ON EBAY. The Fernco rubber cap w/clamp also from Lowes. So easy to access and clean. Will never use another barrel.Ithrew away all my Lortone 6 and 12 barrels(before i found this forum).
