Very cool material Ted, and one I've never before seen. Do you know what it is geology- wise. Is it some kind of serpentine and is it a rare find in your area?.....Mel

Wow that's almost jade hard! What a beautiful serpentine variety. Some of the Valley Springs area bird's eye serpentine looks a bit like that but does not have that wonderful bone like pattern. You've definitely found a prize there and I can't wait to see a cab....Mel

i thought it looked similar to dino too . seems lizardite is a tradename for a serpentine . im thinking my rock is a olivine perdotite rock . although if there ever was a lizard rock , this is it.

beautiful rock - but this does look like Peridotite. Question is: in a weathered piece of rock does the crysts eroding out? Peridotite tends to leave gravelly residue where the crystals remain after the softer matrix has gone.
