yep, as long as you are tumbling full loads of just quartz it tumbles great. You can mix in others form the quartz family like amethyst and citrine too. here's a few pics from a quartz mix we did in a regular 3lb rotary. Chuck

I'm tumbling mixed quartz currently here is a pic of stage 1 for a week (right barrel I had a little oops when checking on them basically dropped both barrels lol. Going back to step one for more shaping. This is my first try with them on a 12# barrel, but I would suggest cushioning after step one to keep your levels right and if you see one looking like it could be break through step 2 3 & 4 pull it out, break it and save it for another batch of step 1. I tied with the a small 3# barrel and one fractured on I should have pulled broke on pre polis stage and wrecked the batch scratching them all up. That's a lot of quartz your friend has. You'll find the best of the best for your batch. Great luck to you. Sent from my SPH-D710 using proboards Attachments:

I've had good luck with quartz. I roughed mine in a rotary and finished it in a vibe. I mixed rocks like Chucks with local quartz that I collected myself. The following pictures have the two types separated, but I tumbled them together. Some of my local rocks were probably not quartz, but most were.
