Does anyone know how to differentiate between the three. I just got some old stock that looks like variscite, but it also looks like turquoise. Any kind of test you can do? Thanks, Deb ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Chysoprase is easy.....the chrysoprase will be much harder (Mohs' hardness 7 or so) than Turquoise or Variscite. Harder to tell the difference with hardness between Turquoise and Variscite because they vary so much and also because some is stabilized but I think Turquoise has copper in it and Variscite does not. To add another twist is that Turquoise and Variscite can be found together or so I have read. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge with hop in and tell us more.
