This on one of the areas I visited this year for my rockhounding adventures. Here's one area where I found several Montana Agates and some other cool rocks. Some of the finds: A promising Montana What I've heard called a "Prairie Agate" but it does look more like a jasper agate combo. Another "Prairie Agate" Another promising Montana A cool nodule Some petrified wood And for you fossil buffs - fossilized clams found just outside of Glendive And a final view of the last place I looked for rocks before the weather turned. The sun was starting to set and I had to go but as Arnold might say....I'll be back!...lol. I'll leave you with a pic of the biggest Montana Agate I found while I was there. It is pretty fractured but it is about 8inches long by 4inches wide.

Actually both, Fossilman. I also hounded in Terry but didn't get much of anything there as the open to the public areas were pretty well picked over. I was told the pickins were slimmer this year because of the lack of ice flow this past winter so I feel lucky to have gotten as many as I did.

Looks like you picked up some nice Montanas. You can't beat a view like that, gravel as far as your legs'll take you.

Yep, it was like rock heaven seeing all those rocks exposed, too bad they weren't all agates although I'd probably have had to rent a truck to get them all home. All I could think of when I saw those rocks everywhere was "so many rocks, so little time".

I know Forsyth and the Billings areas are hot too....My nephew hunts the Billings area alot and comes up with some hot agates!(Last year was great with all the sandbars showing because of low water levels.) I've only done one hunt so far...(rolling eyes).. Tell you the truth though,I have great luck at the McDonalds parking area(Sidney) too with agate and petwood-LOL..............

Well geez, Fossilman, now ya tell me, of course after I've left there and after the water has come back up...LOL. Day late and $1 short I suppose...LOL. I did look in a few people's garden areas where they put rocks instead of grass but my boss griped at me so I had to leave them alone even though I saw a few possibles. What a party pooper...lol.
