Daniel sent me a slabgrabber he had made, with a hunk of Owyhee already fastened in it. This is the last 3 slabs I got off of the Owyhee with the slabgrabber. Daniel, it worked really well down to the last slab! Fireworks obsidian, both sides.

choose the grabber design based on the top-bottom or front-back design of your vise I guess i have a front to back vise.. on my 18 & 8 inch saws. I've never seen a top to bottom vise on a saw before.

choose the grabber design based on the top-bottom or front-back design of your vise I guess i have a front to back vise.. on my 18 & 8 inch saws. I've never seen a top to bottom vise on a saw before. then you have greater options. you could use the large style of grabber Catmandew is selling in the 18", or the small one in the 8". They are all various sizes of the large Lortone Clamp: There may be some issue with the solder joint on the bottom of Tony's small grabber in the 8" saw because there is a saw table. I think you could file it flat with no problem. Lortone does not make a small of this type. FOr the 8" saw it would have to be from Catmandew, or build one of the type I posted a while back. Here is the one I sent to Donnie, with the Owyhee rock in the clamp: You could also use the Lortone small clamp on the 8", but I don't like them a lot. You often need to cut a groove top and bottom for them to grab, and I have had plenty of rock fall out when I tried to tighten. I gave mine away.
