I've placed 4 orders from lapidarytool.com over the past 2 1/2 years. Today it seems they've disappeared from the internet. Bummer.
Some of their lapidary products are very good (plated & sintered wheels). Some is not as good (diamond belts).

They were wholesale only until maybe 2-3 years ago. I got a sample order with great difficulty with shipping times and a 30 day US Customs hold. I still get offers from them (last one was maybe a month ago) for close out laps. Minimum order quantity of 1000 each size. Maybe they are out of the retail business, their website is down, or something.

That's not the same company. The missing one is in China. A guy named Mohan is the one that contacts me.

I just checked and even though it says their name in the heading, the page is the great generic search engine in the sky. That usually means the name is up for grabs I think

Mohan has been struggling with the crappy economy for some time, like many of us small guys. We've received email from him, and did some business with him. I hope that it's just a temporary problem, and that he lands on his feet.
We did receive an email last month that offered very low prices, but only in lots of 1000. Couldn't possibly afford it.

Same e-mail I received. Not enough pennies in my piggy bank for laps by the thousand. I buy from an American importer and make less, buy less, and let him deal with tariffs, Customs, and I have a quick, easy warranty situation if needed.

I think 4-5 years ago is when I ordered some samples of wheels, belts, and laps. I wasn't impressed with the laps at all and the belts were really poor. I sold the wheels before I had a chance to try them. He later sent me a "Nova" wheel and a belt. They were much better. The brightly colored diamond belts on rubber backer belts (they would leave rubbery stripes if you caught any kind of edge but seem to last well). Then he started selling direct really low priced and I had to buy by the thousand for any further discount. I want to say he was "Mohans Diamond Tools" first, then Hans Lapidary. Mo Hans sounds right for his name as Chinese list there last name first and he signs messages "Hans".

Many products could be purchased one a ta time, some in lots of five. I also got a couple of emails about larger quantities, but I'm not a dealer & don't need that many.
I'll reply to one of Mohan's emails & see if it bounces.

Lynn, he changed to the discount direct, small quantities a few years ago. Before that he would sell samples of his products but after that by the 100's or more. Like many suppliers that sell discount direct to retail customers he killed his wholesale trade. Why would a wholesale buyer buy from him and try to mark up and resell if customers can buy at low prices direct. He did seem very nice in his e-mail correspondence.
