When your friend remembers & buys you something you spoke about in passing...
I had mentioned to my friend, Kenny, that I was unable to find the 20 mule team Borax at the store and a month later he comes across the stuff and remembered our talk about it, and buys me a box!!

Dreft might be a better choice for your burnish unless you have a safe place to dump the borax water . Borax kills the heck out of plant life....Mel

Borax is toxic to plants, but it's immobile in the soil. That means it can't be flushed out with water, but it doesn't move laterally either. I've been dumping used slurry with plenty of borax into a 2.5 foot deep hole in the garden for 3 or 4 years now. After the hole gets about half full I dig it out and put the accumulated slurry into the garbage. I have a Hosta growing just 2 feet from the hole and it's never shown any signs of toxicity or stress.
Borax is somewhere on the bottom shelf at the grocery store, not necessarily near the laundry soap. Real hardware stores (as opposed to big box) carry Borax too.
