An astronomy magazine (I have a BS in the subject) had an article about the stupid questions astronomers are asked, like "If solar eclipses are dangerous to look at, why does the government allow them?" What are the stupid questions you have been asked about this hobby?

it may seem stupid to well informed people but to the person who asked the question it is a different matter. To me the most stupid question is one that is not asked, and therefore never answered correctly

Most stupid Question: "You do what?" Deliverance was filmed 10 miles from here. Really. At work, I have somthing called the "Just smile" jar. When someone asked a REALLY stupid question, the kind that you just have to smile for a moment and come up with an answer thats not too condesending, we put change in the jar. The dumber the question the higher the coin value. By the end of the week, it buys us a round at ladies night out. ;D cookie

The one question heard at each and every mineral show, where the public see fabulous displays of natural mineral crystals for the first time, is:
"How do you cut and polish them to look like that?"
The answer, of course, is:
"Very carefully."

SirRoxalot: I guess I am not that way. I would try to explain how crystals form by themselves. But to each his own.
