Ok i am not that versed in the subject of Obama care but as he has now been reelected I guess that will be the way health care will be handled. I have a question. How does Obama Care benefit the average citizen? I just got a notice from my insurance company indicating that the premium will bE increased. This is nothing new they raise it every year. However this time it was raised over 40%. Is ObamaCare going to do anything about that. How is a 40+% increase a benefit for the average citizen, or are the extra premiums being charged going to offset the cost of covering those that could not get insurance before Obamacare? I know these questions might seem naive to some of you folk who have spent many hours debating the issue but perhaps someone could shed some light on it for me in simple terms. I would really hope that there is a silver lining in all of this for those who work for a living and have always paid their own way. Thanks Stu

You can thank the Liberals and Latino voters for that Stu. And that is just the beginning. Four years from now most of us will be eating out of dumpsters.

Curt and Kap I feel embarrased to say that I don't even know what Obama Care actually is. I am just trying to grasp what it's selling points are. Is it just for the poor folk who couldn't afford to get insurance before? Should I cancel my insurance and sign up for Obama Care? I would really appreciate some feedback from those who are pro ObamaCare to fill me in on the details. I am really confused and in the dark on this one Stu

Stu: Since Obamacare started, my wife lost her doctor who now takes no insurance at all and our premiums went up so much we had to go to a cheaper plan that pays less. And that price increase was even with us both on medicare now and paying a couple hundred on that. Even the cost for the supplemental plan went way up. Conversations with our doctor were met with the comment that many doctors may take no new medicare patients and accept no insurance at all in a short while. This can be a real problem if you're like us and live in a rural small town setting. Nothing to do with Obamacare but most dentists now longer accept our dental insurance either so we either have to hunt for a new dentist or pay way more for dental care too. Main thing I see that came from Obamacare is a ton of new people we added to the rolls and your insurance is not supposed to exclude you due to pre existing conditions. This of course is why rates are skyrocketing and why now that Obama has been re elected the 700+ million will be stolen from the medicare advantage program to pay for all these extra folks. Most likely all this is taking place to raise prices and eventually force everyone into a single payer government plan like the Europeans use, but Helen will probably tell us how all this can't possibly be true *L*Mel

Maybe Helen can tell us how it can't possibly be true that our military and retired military who carry their dependents on our TriCare insurance, have seen our insurance go up each year that Obama has been in office. Or maybe she can tell us how it can't possibly be true that those of us who must also carry Medicare parts A & B or loose our TriCare, must pay more and receive less for our coverage ? If she says it isn't true, all I can say is, walk a mile in our shoes Helen.

maybe I can get a grasp on why you hate what we in Canada call "Medicare" so much by telling you what I pay; actually we all pay the same amount, but lower income earners do get their fee forgiven or partially so. right now I am mandated to pay $60 a month. This gives me unlimited justified visits to a doctor, clinic, or hospital emergency room. Our hospitals are non profit and we support them with our taxes but there are also privately funded clinics that get paid at the same rate as calculated costs. I pay for all perscriptions on the same sliding scale as the medicare fee. With our tax supported medical system we spend 10%gdp on healthcare and the US spends 16% and I am just trying to honestly understand why.

Anyone with insurance is not getting obamacare, only people with no insurance get obamacare. However, reducing the quality and quantity of doctors begins, which mean people start doing self care, everyone will be soon be gone. No others in this world are worthy of quality of life except obama and his close followers. This also eliminates the numbers drawing off the Social Security funds. He who gets all of the money, medical care, food and fuel wins.
Everyone else get nothing....zero....

Well my wife and I pay about $650 per month for our medical insurance through her work, I have no idea how much her work kicks in, probably about $2-300. We have a $1500 per year deductible that has to be met before it pays anything, so most years it pays nothing. I have one prescription that if I buy it at my local pharmacy costs $380 per month. I can buy it online from Canada for $280 for a 6 month supply.
I think you could say the teats on a boar thing applies here.

Mel --- think you meant 700+ "billion" not "million" ;D Stu --- no wonder you don't know what's in it -- don't you remember Nancy P saying "we have to pass this to find out" well, look out because we will now "find out" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- another little item that is going to take place within a week or so is that if you are 73 + medicare now says it won't pay for more than " 4" meds if your doc prescribes them ( saving money /less cost) you can still get them if you pay for them yourself tho --- --funny how this is starting to take effect two weeks after the election instead of two weeks before --better put a big pile of money back to pay for the rest( pick the four that keep you alive so we can "throw granny over the cliff while she's still alive" )------ -- they are also trying to get all the "private practice" docs to sign up with a hospital ( so they can control prices and how they prescribe and get paid) -- I've heard of several docs that say they will simply quit rather than work for so much less just sit back and wait for 2014 to get here then we will know what all is in it --- I've got some "home remedy" books from the 1800/1900's to use for myself ;D
