So I have been lurking for about a year now, learning as much as I can about rotary tumbling and wire wrapping. I still have much to learn, but I thought to share my latest tumbler loads, just pulled last night after a 6 week run. I have everyone on this forum to thank for the wonderful shine on these pieces. Now to work on aquiring better quality rocks- LOL

Looks to me like you have some pretty good quality rocks there. I have seen a LOT worse and it does not take a bunch of exotic rocks to make a beautiful batch. Keep up the good work. Jim

If those are less than great rocks and you made them look that good.... you'll never have to buy good rock again because you have mastered making diamonds out of dung my friend... and you'll save a lot of money on the cost of rocks.

Nice Randy. I just posted pics from my 2nd tumbled and polished batch. Our rocks look similar so one of us must be doing something right!

Thanks for the nice comments. Many of these have deep cracks, holes, or rough edges due to undercutting or matrix issues. I have been tumbling a little over a year now. Started out doing frosted glass for my sis-in-law because she wanted to learn to wire wrap. Then she had some broken arrowheads that we decided to try just to see what would happen. Then I had pretty pebbles in my driveway. Then an older gentleman passed away in the Rock club that I had just joined (again- due to your advise), and his family was selling a huge storage room full of his collected rocks for $25 a 5 gallon bucket. So now I have three HF tumblers with 5 barrels. I know that brand gets mixed reviews, but they were inexpensive- which is important to me as a beginning tumbler (waited for a sale and used a 20% off coupon, then added the two year warranty). The biggest difference in the quality shine of this run, and the ones before this is that I heeded the advise of many here and did not rush the process. And, YES, I definitely love tumbling...but if I ever run across a lap machine that I can afford.....LOL
