I just got a brand new toy. A 10 lb. soda blaster to clean minerals, agates and even some fossils. I'll post some before and after pics of things I clean, just to give you an idea of what a soda blaster can and can't do. But first I need the rain to stop so I can go outdoors and play. the soda blaster along with rubber gloves, painters head socks, safety goggles and a good dust mask. Oh, and 2 - 10 lb. containers of blasting soda.

oh you wus; the skin is good at keeping the soft stuff inside and it doen't melt in the rain At 90 PSI, even soda will peal your skin off, right down to the bone. And while not toxic, it can cause lung and eye problems. In too high of humidity, the soda will cake up and block the blaster nozzle and pick up tube. On the bright side, cleanup is easy. Just hit the white powder with a garden hose.

Yeah; I used to have a 1000 gallon 22 hp soda blasting unit on a trailer that I cleaned grafitti off buildings and prepped for painters with. Definately have to keep the material tank dry. I was talking about your skin :<))

Used to hydroblast the hulls of nuke subs. Can't remember what the pressure at the gun was, but I've seen it pick a guy up and launch him off of a 3 high scaffolding. We wore extra heavy blasting suits and air line hoods.

would you be cleaning the sea crud off them or prepping for paint? A new coat of grey/or gris, as the eastern half of our country says. That would have to be a lot like holding on to a fire hose. Surprised your not sleeping after dinner; turkey puts me right to sleep:<)

We cleaned them right down to bare metal. It was like holding on to a fire hose with one of the old fashioned brass suicide nozzles on it. Only difference was the gun had a dead mans lever on it. If it got away from you, it shut the gun off. High pressure water and black diamond grit mixed together.
