Thanks for looking I guess I should have said how big they are too: the bead is about 25mmx12mm. and the wire is a shellac coated copper for winding coils, that's why the colour is changed. The area is very highly metamorphized, and silified as well and because of the accrual by continental drift, there is old sea bed and just about anything you can name in the area. Some of the silified bed has 50myo snails in it. There is a lot of mineralization of the different rocks through the silification process and chalcedony types are abundant, with most of them having microcrystaline iron pyrite and other things mixed in; and because there is also a lot of volcanism in the area also, it just adds to the variety with hard; 6mohs, serpentine and even some jade lenses.

very rich material. I've got a bunch of sandstone where I live, but I hear it doesn't take a good polish.

I was thinking just that. That it was a metamorphosed silicified granite . Do find them here .

Oh I can get a lot of granite out of the river if I want to. The rhodonite is infused into allmost everything here if you find the right peice but the river is known to have some large and pure peices and what brought me here was a peice that was given to me 35 years ago; I finally decided to try and find my own but all I see so far is the infused peices. i wish everyone had a river like this to explore; you are welcome to come and do it, just give me 15 minutes notice . :<)))

Is that red possibly feldspar? I ask because the Feldspar (pink or red) + Epidosite (green) + Quartz (white) plus mica = a granite often known as unakite.
I can't tell from the photos, but it looks a lot like the material I find here in Northern Colorado, which is the aforementioned combo and variations on the theme.
Either way I really like them.

thanks John and Hub; I really do enjoy getting out and finding what is laying there undiscovered. The feldspar is common in BC but is typically a larger rectangular granular crystal because it has cooled slawly and is a major constituent in the granitic materials along with lots of mica and a variety of the gneisses from black to green. The rockies are made of that stuff. finding the bitséwheat, amongst the chaff is the hard part and I keep looking for more of the epidosite varients too, in a gemmier grade.

Yes, the fine details really lean towards a smaller stone. It`s silified too so would stand up fairly well.
