To all,
I'm finishing up the California index and am working on the peripheral section. In looking over my photos, I though I had a bunch of pictures from Mel showing local jade, but for the life of me I can't find them....I also thought Chris1234 had posted some Randsburg Rhodonite, but can't find them either.
So - for christmas I am looking for images to include in the California index of rhodonite (randsburg, crafton hills, rosamond, anywhere else?), jade (specifically Jade Cove but all else), as well as howlite, rootbeer onyx from near trona, and any other material that doesn't fit under quartz but is used in polished lapidary work. Some rose quartz from Green Mountain would also help.
My special request - so far unfulfilled, is for a couple good shots of Berkeley nodules. That's one of my largest gaps right now. Anybody accept that challenge?
Just post that photos and I'll contact you.
I appreciate all help in making this index as complete and detailed as possible.
Thank you
Lowell

Lowell, Oh man. I somehow did not get any of my Berkeley Nodules moved or my Opal Mountains. Think they were buried in the leaves near our back bathroom door or maybe I just chucked them as they were not fancy. I actually began my rock hobby with Buster Sledge, one of the original discoverers of those Berkeley deposits. His whole yard was full of them, some to a foot in diameter. Not real fancy interiors, mostly banded grays or blues but a good percentage did have iris agate. The ones he found were t-eggs but there were blue amygdules on Fish Ranch Road too. Don't forget Templeton biconids too *L*. Rare rare rare ...Mel

Mel,
Your mention of Fish Ranch Road makes me think of the agates I collected between the Kaiser quarry & Sibley Volcanic Open Space Preserve about 8 years ago. I was blown away to find banded agates in the Oakland Hills. No Iris agates though.

elfjello, are you beefjello? We flew (home) into Denver from Cancun yesterday and were not at all prepared for the 20 degrees Fahrenheit waiting for us. I didn't even have a light jacket as it had been mild when we flew out - I was in sandals and shorts!
Sorry Lowell I have nothing to offer for your photos, thanks for doing that though.

Think I still have a few slabs of Randsburg Rhodonite, but no rough left. I'll dig in some basement boxes tomorrow.

Got a couple nice hunks of Nephrite from the opposite side of the highway from Jade Cove. Collected in the early 50's, before that all became private land. I'll see if I can find them in the morning and get pics.

Wow! What a bundle of stuff!
Much thanks for the images! I'll call it a Christmas gift early, and not even wrapped. Better than socks and fruitcake!
I gotta say, you guys are making it hard for me to finish this project. (But that's a good thing.)
Hoping to have this thing out by Christmas... Lowell

Thanks Elfjello! (Love that name...it just sounds...wrong...in all the right ways.) This thing is up to 225 pages of photos right now . . . and I still have a few more to add.
Pat, Right now the only links listed for this project are at the top of the Cabochon page - the Agate Index project. (Thanks John) but I am working at resetting them all with new download links.
