I was more prominent a while back but got sidetracked by chainmail, too many pets & kids that I felt guilty about abandoning when I was polishing rocks. We got an American Eskimo puppy who we’re a bit disappointed with cuz he’s antisocial but he is kinda cute – that’s Panda. I also have two lionhead rabbits , all pets are boys – Peaches & Popcorn
I soon learned that the kids don't care if I'm around or not as long as they're fed & clothed (son is 12 and daughter is now 17 and still going through the terrible twos - but now has a boyfriend to boot!
I've dabbled in pretty much all the arts except scrapbooking for some reason but mostly rocks.
In June of this past summer, I got a letter (during my holidays BTW) from my employer (federal gov't) saying that I had a year to find another job. I returned to work a week later to a job that I no longer felt or cared about doing. I panicked (I knew the cuts were coming but just though we were competing for our positions, not our jobs. Anyways, 3 days later I got an interview with another department and got the job the next day. It took me 1 month to the day to start in the new job and I have to say it was the best thing that happened to me – which leads me back here – to rocks & wrapping.
I brought in some pieces that I made to show to some colleagues (one just started crafting again and wanted ideas so I brought in some chainmail & a book with the rocks that I had cabbed . Well, I must have sold at least 10 pieces with just a bail glued on and one woman brought in a cab – larimar - I think and I wrapped that in sterling silver. I think I undersold ALL the pieces if you ask me but I made many of them very happy. I sold a few chainmail pieces and I’m waiting on an order of rings for Christmas – no silly, not jewelry but plain ‘ole aluminum rings – I’m weaving another chainmail vest – the last one I sold – literally off my back - and I kinda got itching to make another one. I need to keep busy while watching TV so I’m not grabbing popcorn or chips and these crafts do the job.
I also got a Kobo ereader two years ago and have been chain-reading ever since – I’ve read, in the past 16 months, over 80 books – if you’re calculating, that’s about a book every 4-5 days (and I don’t read on the weekends) – sign, yes I’m a nerd!
It,s been so long since I posted pics - photobucket changed again...
