Last month Ted (tandl) asked me if I'd like to check out some of his local finds. Of course I responded in the overwhelming positive ;D Today I got home and found a small flat rater bursting at the seams in my mailbox.. wow check out what he sent It's a very overcast day and my pics aren't up to snuff but I just had to post these! This is an awesome slab, reminds me of jade.. what is it Ted? The dark areas in this one have a shimmer effect not sure what these are either.. very cool geode looking cuts love the botryoidal cave in this one! cool coral cut! and a beautiful agate slice. I had no idea fortification agates were found in Illinois! If I recall correctly a lot of what Ted finds were carried down with glaciers. Just LOVE this piece.. a type of coral I think and if I'm not mistaking this is a slab of Fern Wood!!! Oh yeah!! ;D Ted thank you so much.. You totally ROCK!!!

A Great post of appreciation ! I should have labeled them . That first slab , my id is dumortierite quartz -gniess , but have had jadeite thoughts. Second is gabbro. third is amphibolite marble, very sparkely rotated .Fourth is one of those unusual feldspars that seem to be silicified , it has a brecciated shiller. rotate it . Fifth are chalcedony geodes . the slab has some eyes that should polish out nice . Then a favosite coral, there is a small horn coral there but the favo should make a great cab . then a forty agate that was in a geode , these are very rare . very like Kentucky agate . Then a syringopora coral i sent for cabbing . A psaronius fern root . bottom of first photo is a brecciated red jasper quartz with much pyrite . I appreciate You sending me a RTH sticker and some slabs . Thanks , Brian . Have a good one !

Wow that's a great variety of material. I didn't know Indiana had such great rocks.
