I hope these stay on the dops. I haven't dopped in years and thought I'd try again to save my nails. Gonna be a busy day tomorrow.... Attachments:

I need to dop some more of mine. I tend to skip it and then sometimes have a problem with getting them completely even. Looks like you are ready to go! Looking forward to seeing the finished batch! Fran

AArgghhh! Did a good job dopping them. Put them in the freezer over night and they popped right off the dop sticks - NOT! Gotta get some acetone

If that doesn't work, you could try using a box cutter safety blade and gently rock it back & forth between the stone and glue. It should remove most of the glue when it separates from the stone. I used that method with other things, haven't done much cabbing with dop sticks yet though.

I found that super glue will hold like nothing else can match. But who wants to soak a soft stone in acetone. Even after soaking for a couple of hours I had hell. Broke 1 cab getting it off. I use green dop wax instead. Be sure to preheat the stone really well before applying the stick with wad of wax to the cab. Return it to continue heating to complete the bond making sure to feather it out with your fingers before removing it to cool at room temp. 10 mins. in the freezer and they pop right off the stick. I learned to bag mine before freezing after a couple dropped off the stick in mid air as I was pulling them out.

Soaking in water worked great with all but three...my massive butcher knife took care of those. I had one break on a fault line...not bad! Now to dry the dowels, sand the glue ends, preform some more cabs, and do it again. Oh, and get the glue off the finished cabs. Attachments:

Glad you got them all off but isn't the butcher knife a bit of overkill? LOL Oh wait, this is Lee we are talking to...;-)

Yup, no sense going half-way Was so much fun I might do the whole next batch that way....I'd get a faster turn-a-round on the sticks.

Good going - you made uip some nice cabs. Kind of hard to tell what the best dopping method is though. Seems like they either fall off the dop when working them or you can't pry them loose. I used to have no problem dopping, but lately my cabs have been coming loose during the first sanding step.
