Sorry for the phone picture. These are from my first two tumbles. You guys have been a great help on learning how to this. My grandfather was a rockhound. I have a 5 gallon bucket of some of his tumbles. One of these days i hope to be that good. Most of the rocks are in my picture are from my driveway. A lot of quartz. Many of them don't make it, but I'm trying to start with plastic beads from the beginning. Russell Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/thumbnailer/xwjEjb0cAUdF2Vk2dFsn.jpg)

Welcome to the board Russell
great looking stuff for driveway rockhounding. I have never had to use filler in the first stage but I do use filler starting in the second stage with quartz.
stick around and post more pictures of your tumbles.

Thanks guys! I can't seem to stop picking them up. I have pieces from my grandfather that I can't decide if I should tumble or not. I'll post some pictures of them with a better camera when I have a chance.

Welcome Russel. I can't stop picking up quartz either. I've tumbled some that has turned out pretty nice. I don't use plastic pellets in the first stage either, but I finish it in a vibe with ceramic media.

I can't complain for sure. The quartz wouldn't be there ordinarily except the road base they used seems to have quite a bit of it. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
