Just started some Black agate a few days ago which I've never tried before so any tips on what to do with it and how to treat it ie what polish and that kinda info and how long to tumble for in each stage, all info much appreciated I've never polished black agate before, but I know a little about polishing agates. They are very forgiving rocks to work with. Make sure you have a good assortment of sizes and some filler to help the grit move around and you should be ok. Tumble time... is 1-2 weeks I would think depending on the size of the stone and what is on the surface. ie;... cracks, pits voids. I tumble most of my agates about 2 weeks and then check them, whatever is ready to move on goes in 1 pile and the ones needing more time goes into another pile, and then back to the tumbler with more rocks, grit, & Water and we wait 2 more weeks. I do this at each stage except polish, which is only 1 week, then check. Don't know what polish to recommend I use AO and have had no problems with it. hope this helps... others will chime in soon enough with more/better info!! Good luck & post lots of pictures!!
