Howdy folks, With the cooler weather here in Texas, I've finally gotten around to my project to fix up my rough rock storage. I had been using milk crates but the sun here had caused them all to crack and fall apart. I decided to use some left over 6" by 6" sandstone blocks ( some are three feet long and weigh about a 100 pounds so they should be stable) to just build me an enclosure to hold my rough rock. I'm using weed cloth barrier, then river gravel to line the bottom so my good rocks don't sink in the ground and that same gravel for a walkway along the front off the bin so I don't have to stand in the mud. Anyway, here's a pick of the project in progress. Main conclusion I've reached is "rocks are heavy!". Man my back is sore. Just have the walkway to finish up and I can start moving my rocks in. Found some cool specimens I had forgotten too so I'll try to take a few rock pics for you folks too. Thanks for looking..... Mel

I think the reason some of us have rocks is not to work them. It's just so we can have fun moving them around and organize them in different ways.
Daniel, And don't feel too bad about his back yard. I think I lugged home 3 or 4 truck loads of stuff that Mel couldn't take with him...so much of what he left behind still has a good home. I tried to get all the good rock possible ... I feared he would follow through on his threat of tossing the homeless pieces down into the gully behind his house....talk about an urban field trip----find that creek and win a prize.. You can'5 find a more generous person than Mel. bEsides he made a lot of WIccans very happy with all his pink and red rocks. Or we're they new agers? I get them confused.
Mel, can't wait to see what treasures you pull from that pirate hoard of yours...

Lowell, They were Wiccans and rich ones too. A couple of them pulled up in high end Mercedes's and had me load rocks of various colors ( used in healing ceremonies) into their trunks. You're right too, they went through my jasper pile and pulled out every red piece of jasper they could find . Apparently red jasper has very good ju ju or some such magic ....Mel

If you find any of the black jade you mentioned before and it needs cut up just send it up here. I would be glad to take care of it for you.
I should make one of those rock thingies but my back is so bad from carrying them home I can not move them. I can not figure out why I carried all of them home and I probably never will figure it out. Seemed like a good thing to do at the time. lol Jim
