Hey Lee. I would steer clear of auctions that offer a "random scoop" of anything, especially boulder opal. A random scoop may yield 90% mud or it may contain some real gems-but I doubt it. A better option is to contact Gene at Koroit.com and ask him for a price on one of his parcels. An example of his parcels is something like 1600 grams(not carats) for $80. As with any boulder opal, there is a lot of waste, but one can easily make their money back with 2-3 nice cabs.
