Yesterday the weather was fabulous after a month of rain, so Barbara and I were able to set up our saw we got from Sandsman1.
We started with 1/4" tiles, moved on to a 1-1/2" brick, then practiced on river rock and some flint. Then I got the "good" rocks out. Cut up a couple I got in the 30# box from Astrogallery - they were pretty nice, esp. a green one. Will post a pic when I have time. Am curious to know what it is if anybody can help identify it.
Then I got out the mook. It was really a bit to big for the saw and we were never able to make a cut all the way through. But, we cut it enough where we could get a chisel down into it and start breaking it up. I was/am really disappointed in it. There was very little color - mostly just white/tan looking with a few spots of color. Nothing like the beautiful colors in Don's. I was so excited about cutting/breaking it up, anticipating all those beautiful colors and so disappointed when it turned out to be a relatively blah piece of mook!
Intended to slab up some of the green quartz I got from Banjocreek, but our fingers, hands and arms were getting tired and it was getting dark, so that is for another day.
May have been disappointed in the mook, but love the saw!

What kind of saw did you get LLana? Trim or Slab?

Barbara and I bought a saw from Sandsman1. It's a tile saw, but works great for cutting rocks. Won't cut big ones, but we have our handy dandy chisels and hammers we can use to bust them up small enough to cut.
I was really surprised at how good it cuts rocks. In fact, it seemed to cut through the brick and rocks alittle easier than the tile we tried first.
I want to go back over tonight, set it up and cut more rocks, but it's my favorite TV night - can't miss Survivor - Might be havin' so much fun cuttin' rocks, I'd forget about all those lyin', backstabbin ' folks on that island. LOL!
