1 of the guys that works for me found these points in a hill side that is being excavated at the river...1 of our friends bought a lot at griffith landing...the lot was rather low....and the lot next to it is higher ground. the guy with the higher ground wanted his lot more level....and the guy with low lot wanted his higher....so they started moving dirt from higher ground and building up the lower lot...the points were dug out of a wall that is left for the time being....he told me that i can go to this site any time i want and bring anyone i want...no telling what is in the buckets of dirt already moved...it has just been spread out on the lower lot. 1 piece/point has been found that is 10" long and 4" wide but was broke in half...probably from the excavating...kev.

Wow,lucky you Kevin. The plowed area has about been picked clean. The digging equipment gave you burried gifts. That area has so many artifacts.I know what you are saying about that large spear.Have found broken points that had to be almost a foot long-not scrapers but spears. What kind of critters required such weapons. That triangle point looks a modern style. The others arcaic? The far right looks like heat poc from heat treatment.Nice stuff

2nd point is probably Santa Fe.Common in Florida, and apparently old like the others you got there.A newer woodland called a Sandy Harbor, says common in SW Georgia.I am not familiay w/that one.But i know the Santa Fe well. All mighty fine.Triangles are tough to id

nice finds. I use to litterly live right next to Monks Mounds(native american territory) in Fairmount Park, Il when I was a kid. One of the closest houses next to the mounds. The main big mound is right next to the interstate not far from St Louis and The Mississippi River. Some of you might of passed it traveling through. We use to go sledding down it when it was still legal to do so. Me and my older brother would go sledding at night. It was a great time. Our neighbor had his whole basement filled with artifacts that he found in his families field after the farmers would till the land. I worked out of the laborers union along side archeologist when they were digging along side the big mound. It was a cool job, getting paid great and was doing something that I was very interested it. Only bad thing was that it was freaking hot. We set up a water station for the archeologiest to use. Their main guy said they didnt need one and that they should get use to the weather since they would be digging in a desert next, but we set one up for them anyways. They were much appreciative. There are so many broadheads found around that area that you can go to the local pawnshop and buy them for a few bucks. I live in Troy, Il now about 10-12 miles due east and I actually found a broadhead when I was trenching drain tile for the gutters. I couldnt believe it. Its the only broadhead Ive actually kept.
