Being bought by oversea country.A freind buys over sea containers of slabs in 55 gal drums from Brazil for many years. He travelled there for years to establish relationships with big corporate operations down to single family operations. Now the price per pound has tripled. He is facing issues w/economics. He also said that many of the mines are being shut down due to Brazil creating environmental policies. And more scrutiny on mining amythest geodes in basalt.A common practice is to send small people in hand dug tunnels to place explosive charges to assist extraction. It is an interesting subject. And has lots of tales. He did say he used to travel around and hand pick his raw material. They would cut it and put the pretty stuff on top of the barrel and keep the rest fof high grade pricing to other customers. It took him years to find trustworthy group to deal with.I bought a few slabs 8-10 years ago.I compare to aaa quality now.His c quality smoked the new age aaa. Some people get to have all of the fun.
