I used a PAR20 50 watt Sylvania bulb(flood beam) in a 9 dollar desk lamp Daniel.Lots of light alowed 1/60-1/200 at f4/f5.Fast shutter a must!Took these at the kitchen table.I stuck the rock on black clay and adjusted the rock to the light to minimize glare and maximize light penetration.Light was coming in at steep angle,at least 45 degrees.First 1:1 macro i ever used. But set it at 1:2 to get a little depth of field and reduce vibration sensitivity. But some did turn out blurred. If i went to f2.8 i could have faster shutter. So hand held is very doable.

Did these w/tripod smallest opening @ f16 and slow shutter for deeper depth of field.Shutter 1/6 to 1/20.These macro photos are finicky-sensitive to movement, light, focus setting, crappy depth of field.Great mag though.Best veiwed in slide show mode.Once in slide show big screen mode is in lower right corner. That mode is about x45 magnification on a 14 inch screen. www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157632340494899/
