So I just realized don't get any lapidary or jewelry-making magazines yet. I subscribe to some yahoo lists and some blogs, but I'm sure there are others I would enjoy that I haven't hearf of yet.
Which should I get?
Here's what I'm "into" so far or want to get more into:
-- hounding -- cabbing -- composite cabs/intarsia -- silverwork, copper, general jewelry making, pmc -- cutting up rocks in general
Not so much into wrapping, specimens, fossils or the geology end of things.
Thanks in advance!

Yup, the old standby, Rock & Gem. Lapidary Journal if you can afford their price.

Don do you mean "Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist" or is there a straight "Lapidary Journal" without the jewelry artist part? All the links take me to the jewelry artist one (which looks good).

Lapidary Journal was the original name of Lapidary Journal and Jewelry Artist. Great magazine!

Hi, Susan: I'll add my vote for the three mentioned above (Rock & Gem, Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist and Art Jewelry). Not every page of every issue is a winner, but in general they have broadened my horizons and heightened my interest, so I find them worth the subscription. I went all in for the multi-year deals, so that helped a bit on the prices. You will have to set up a (free) account to get in, but there is some pretty good free stuff on this site and the blog is relatively useful: www.jewelrymakingdaily.com/media/g/free-projects/default.aspx?a=jp121227And of course their stuff for purchase has merit as well. One of the better deals (by my lights) are these back issue versions of Lapidary Journal. The oldest one is found here (again, may have to sign up for a free account): www.interweavestore.com/Jewelry-Making/Magazines/2003-2005-Lapidary-Journal-Jewelry-Artist-Collection-Download.html?SessionThemeID=20and there are related links to more current collections on this page. Some are downloads, some are CD's/DVD's, so pick your preferred medium. They do put these on sale now and again, so if you get on their email list (almost unavoidable), keep an eye out. The information mostly doesn't go out of style and the project ideas and techniques are good forever. It's a bonus to be able to get the info without the bulk of the actual magazines. I was able to put the PDF's on an iPad so I can take them along and read when I have a few minutes here and there. Happy holidays, Jack
