Based on what it says and shows, I don't how you can go wrong with that buy. That is a lot of stuff for $97! The Mini-Sonic is supposed to be a very durable unit.

I bought a faceter and it came with a tumbler. The owner thought it was broken. It needed a fuse, and both bbls were full of emeralds, rubies, saphires. I did not know they were tough to polish and they were the reason I found this forum. Sometimes things work out in interesting ways that bear unknown fruit. Perhaps your oops will have the same effect for you.

Ohh i am not upset about it actually, it was a hell of a bargin 97 bucks for a what 300 dollar tumber unit. I could turn around and list it properly and make a profit most likely. But i will keep it for now and find out what one works the best.

OK, already i am REALLLLLLY liking this tumbler, The rocks rotation action is much more fluid compaired to the Raytech's Tumble-Vibe 5.
I don't see where first grind would be an issue at all with this type of tumbler or even grit courseness. First grind on a TV-5 is very hard. TV5 tends to flatten out some stones as they don't rotate unrounded stones very well. This tumbler they never sit still long enough to flatten anything. I can see how this tumbler would easly cut the time of polishing too. I don't intend on doing any first gind in this tumbler, i plan on using one hopper for prepolish one hopper for polish and doing all first grinds in a rotory tumbler.

Hey tj, how are things going with your Mini-Sonic? I'm anxious to hear how things work. Is it quieter than your TV-5?
