Well I finally finished my first batch of obsidian! It was tough, but I’m happy with the results of my first try. These are the obsidian Krystee send me. There are also 4 pieces of Firework Firecracker Obsidian that deb193redux recommended in a link. I have the rest of them in stage 3. Taking photos of obsidian is not easy, some of them have reflections that can’t be captured. Thanks again Krystee! ;D Here are the before and after pictures: Before: After: Their size range between 1.25--2.25" Here are my favorites! These are the Firework Firecracker Obsidian Happy 2013!!! ;D

Really, those are great photos.Dark stuff is impossible. And my point and shoot does as well as a proffesional camera for me.Lighting is so much of it,as is digital adjustments.

Thanks James! I must be doing something right, I did check and previewed the different light options for the white balance and used ISO 200. They look good but a lot of shades and details of the fancy stones are lost. Also the red color is duller as well. Photography seems to be fun as well! ;D

I'm still fighting with a batch of obsidian, vibe tumblers can be tricky. Those look great!

Chuck I remember I saw your wonderful batch with the one like a mirror!!! That's the best picture of all, an inspirational picture to remember!
You are excellent and very creative at taking photographs and tumbling. Both batches looks excellent to me, probably the last one was best overall as it got more tumbling time. I don't have a vibe yet but perhaps I get one for the summer. I know vibes are faster and use less grit but are vibes much better at polishing?
I followed all of the steps of Krystee's tutorial but modified the grit and borax amounts to be able to use it with my rotary. I did not do an extra burnishing stage because I wanted to follow the tutorial as it was, I might try that on the other batch to see if it will make any difference with obsidian.
I will love to get a total mirror finish like yours, I have another smaller ob batch on 3rd stage, so I will give that one much more time on that stage and the polish one + add a burnishing stage as well to see what happens. Chuck thanks for posting, your work is very inspirational to me!
And thanks again to ALL for the kind messages! ;D
