Greetings all. I just joined the board and look forward to learning more about this hobby. I've been tumbling off and on for a few years, but largely through trial and error.
Over the holiday, I gathered around 50 # of petrified wood from the Brazos River and have the first batch going now. And while searching for insights on how to best handle it, I found this site. ;D

Welcome to RTH! The wood found in the Brazos is usually highly silicified and usually fracture free, rounded off and will take a great polish.I'm a hundred miles from you.Was this from around Rosenberg?

Welcome! I was just in Houston for most of December. Went hounding one weekend and shipped 100 pounds of chalcedony, agate and pet wood home from Three Rivers. I'll be back for the middle of February and am going to spend a week rockhounding my way from Van Horn to Houston. Maybe we can get together for some coffee. I'll be in Houston for a week.
