I was just loading my Lot-O and was thinking about how much easier it is than it used to be now that I have a couple cheap things to help me out. Since there are a few new Lot-O owners around here lately, I thought I'd share my method. I read Steve Hart's book, "Modern Rock Tumbling" and he suggested making a short piece of PVC pipe to measure how much rock you're putting in a rotary tumbler. I made mine so that when I put my rocks in my 3 lb. barrel and the PVC piece on top, I know it's 3/4 full. Lately I've been using that same piece of pipe as a stand for my Lot-O barrel. I've also seen people use a 3 lb. rotary barrel as a stand. I also picked up a canning funnel at Walmart that fits perfectly inside the Lot-O opening. I always fill my Lot-O up with water and then fill it with rocks so that they fall more gently into the barrel. Of course I then dump all the water back out again.
