you wont get the killer colors out of that river rock, the best coral is found on inland sites where the mineral deposits in the clay beds covered them..Also cooking coral is an art, takes some times. NEVER use an inside over or oven at all, these things hold water, if your gonna use and over hold the heat at 200 for 24 or more to dry out any water trapped inside. The kids and I have drank water found in a huge head...AWESOME stuff
I have been cooking coral for about 15 years now and still blow up pieces.... not all of these are cooked wither, some pinhead and polyped coral for the eyes

thanks, I havent cabbed in 2 years, full blown rock shop inthe back and havent had time to play......I need to get back to doing this again. going on a rock run soon so maybe I will find something that intrigues me...I got on a boulder opal kick for awhile then ran through that rock and stopped...

these were some of the ladt I did 2 years ago, I have already shwon these on here back then...these are free form raw unheated pinhead coral ...I think it was 3 or 4 years ago I took Amber on a coral run when she came down...is she even on here anymore since she and Tony got hitched? lol

Jc, I still have the coral I got from you. Time for me to play with it again. I sort of gave up on it because it is so doggone hard, I mean it's one of the hardest materials I have worked with so far! However, now that I have a 10" lapidary saw & a decent blade, I need to tackle it again. Wonderful in the tumbler, since the tumble does all the work, but slow. I love, love that yellow!!!!!!!!!
