Finally got around to doing some cabbing. Here's a cab of some of that material I found last year. It's fairly soft stuff, along the lines of picasso stone but takes a great shine.

nice looking stuff but I don't know if it can be called chert if it's that soft but don't know what to call it myself

It looks similar to dendritic opal. I'm with itsandbits, when I think chert I think very hard.
Really pretty though!

Thanks guys. It could be a dendritic opalite perhaps. I'll tell you though the stuff looks like limestone on the outside; it's a lot harder than that though. I'd say it's a 5.5 - 6 hardness. anyone want to try some? I could put together a couple sfrbs, say $6 shipped.
