OK, so shotgunner has a business selling knife sharpeners and he also Cerakotes guns and now he has a day job. Check it out, I sell rocks! This totally happened out of serendipity.
I hired this very nice gentleman to remodel our guest bath. Granite, tile, tub, vanity..... the whole shootin' match. He was in the house for a week and we got to know each other. I hired him because I liked his personality, he hired me because he liked mine! Plus 13 years retail experience, plus my knowledge of stones and polishing learned here and in class.... all this did not hurt me at all.
Two weeks in I closed my first deal already. Working on a nice one today. People are remodelling instead of selling and buying up. Seems like a good time to get into this line of work.
His shop has so many cool stones. From blue granite to fossilized oysters in limestone to steel blue larvikite (Blue Pearl Granite!) to oh my gawsh some very well figured and colorful stones. Many many have large garnets in them. One he used for his office has large quartz crystals. So large you can see almost all the way thru the 2cm thick stone! I love looking deep into a rock!
I need to line up a bunch of work so I can afford to do my kitchen! He also has contact with the largest granite yard in SoCal and it's close to a miion square feet indoors!
BTW, he showed me a catalog of mosaic tiles made in China. The pieces are tumble polished agates and jaspers. So there, tumble your rocks and line your shower floor!
I love this job so far! Anybody need a kitchen?
